Project Overview

Daily Bread takes the phrase literally. A man in a perfectly tailored suit made entirely of toasted bread slices sits on a bench that looks carved from a block of butter, set in a landscape of endless green hills under a deep blue sky. What starts as a calm, almost formal portrait turns into a routine: a backbend, a handstand, a plank. The suit we wear to earn our daily bread becomes the bread itself, and the daily grind becomes a workout on a breakfast table. The series plays with routine, discipline and the absurdity of performing every day, wrapped in a warm palette of toast, butter and grass.

Challenge

Continuity was the core challenge of this series. The suit had to keep its exact construction across every pose: square slices with toasted crusts, a consistent grid and the same golden-brown tone, whether the model was sitting upright, arching into a backbend or balancing on one hand. Extreme poses make AI lose track of how a garment wraps around a body, so the bread pattern had to follow every bend, fold and stretch without breaking, warping or changing scale. The model’s face, the cap, sunglasses and leather gloves, as well as the hills, the sky and the soft studio light, had to stay identical from frame to frame.

Like every project in this series, Daily Bread was created without a single reference or inspiration photo. It began as sketches and a moodboard on paper before moving into Soul 2.0, where the model, the suit and the butter bench were generated purely from text. Claude served as a sparring partner for prompt engineering and structuring the workflow. Nano Banana Pro was used to retouch the toast grid and correct the materials pose by pose, and Adobe Lightroom brought the final colors together.
